The Tomorrow.io REST Weather API provides aviation-related data fields.
Important notice about "Metar" and "MetarTaf" fields:
Our weather engine uses formal airports weather reports (METAR, TAF, ASOS, and other airport weather observations) and publish them on the timeline, allowing users to consume the data sources as a fluent synthetic feed. Using these fields can allow users to base automatic alerts and insights on the most relevant aviation-related weather source, under consideration that this data is an advisory only.
Field | ||
---|---|---|
| METAR temperature Includes all weather observations reported by station (including ASOS) | F: [-7d, +1h] |
| METAR dew point Includes all weather observations reported by station (including ASOS) | F: [-7d, +1h] |
| METAR barometric pressure that was last reported. After 2 hours from last report field will be "null" Includes all weather observations reported by station (including ASOS) | F: [-7d, +1h] |
| METAR/TAF wind speed METAR Includes all weather observations reported by station (including ASOS) | F: [-7d, +24h] |
| METAR/TAF wind dierction METAR Includes all weather observations reported by station (including ASOS) | F: [-7d, +24h] |
| METAR/TAF wind gust METAR Includes all weather observations reported by station (including ASOS) | F: [-7d, +24h] When no gust reports - shows “windSpeedmetarTaf” |
| METAR/TAF visibility METAR Includes all weather observations reported by station (including ASOS) | F: [-7d, +24h] |
| METAR/TAF cloud base ("Ceiling") METAR Includes all weather observations reported by station (including ASOS) | F: [-7d, +24h] When more than one cloud bases reported - shows only the lowest altitude reported |
| METAR/TAF cloud cover METAR Includes all weather observations reported by station (including ASOS) | F: [-7d, +24h] Rounded to 4 coverage options: |
Example: | Wind speed aloft (WAFS product) The field returns the wind's velocity at the requested altitude defined with 'xxxxx' Supported altitudes range from 3,000 to 55,000 feet MSL, with 1000 feet increments Units: | F: [-7d, +36h] |
Example: | Wind direction aloft (WAFS product) The field returns the wind's direction at the requested altitude defined with 'xxxxx' Supported altitudes range from 3,000 to 55,000 feet MSL, with 1000 feet increments Units: | F: [-7d, +36h] |
Example: | Temperature aloft (WAFS product) The field returns the temperature at the requested altitude defined with 'xxxxx' Supported altitudes range from 3,000 to 55,000 feet MSL, with 1000 feet increments Units: | F: [-7d, +36h] |
Example: | Turbulence aloft (WAFS product) The field returns a decimal value ranging from 0 to 1 according to the eddy dissipation rate index, for fhe requested altitude defined with 'xxxxx' Supported altitudes (MSL): | F: [-7d, +36h] |
Example: | Icing aloft (WAFS product) The field returns a single number from -1 to 4 for the requested altitude defined with 'xxxxx'. Supported altitudes (MSL): | F: [-7d, +36h] |
cloudCeilingMetarTaf | Altitude of the lowest cloud layer which has more than 50% cloud cover. Reported as "BKN" (Broken, 5-7 oktas or 5/8 to 7/8 coverage), or "OVC" (Overcast, 8 oktas or full sky coverage). Default value for reported cloud ceiling - feet. | F: [-7d, +24h] |
windSpeedRemarkMetarTaf | Max Wind speed that is reported in the remark section of METAR/TAF | F: [-7d, +24h] |
windDirectionRemarkMetarTaf | Direction of the max wind that is reported in the remarks section of Metar/Taf | F: [-7d, +24h] |
lowestRVRMetarTAF | The lowest runway visibility reported in the Metar/Taf (The runway number isn't reported, only the visibility) | F: [-7d, +24h] |
visibilityRemarkMetarTaf | Visibility that is reported in the remarks section of Metar/Taf | F: [-7d, +24h] |
